Understand what you are signing up for when you pledge your organs after your life.
What is organ donation?
Simply put, Organ Donation is about pledging your organs while you are alive or after your death. This site focuses on post life donation. Below are more details:
Types Of Donation
Donation after death is a simple process. Depending on whether you’ve passed away due to brain death or cardiac death, you can donate different organs.
Brain Death vs. Cardiac Death
Cardiac Death is when your heart stops beating. This is different from Brain Death where the heart continues to beat (most likely with external help) but there is no brain activity
Brain Death is different from Coma. In a Coma – the person’s brain is still active. E.g. the person’s eyes will respond to light, etc.

Organs that can be donated
Here is a list of organs that every donor can consider donating. Each organ can help different person and can save an additional life.
Important Steps in Organ Donation
Involve your family and loved ones
Organ Donation is an important decision. You should ensure that your family is aware of your wishes before you pledge. Your family also has the right to reject organ donation after death. Therefore it’s also important for them to know the process of donation. It also increases the chances that your wishes will actually get fulfilled after death.
